During his tenure at J.S. Held, Erik has been responsible for estimating, project management, scheduling, and on site project monitoring oversight on many of the largest property losses in the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean. His diverse background includes consulting on high-rise, residential, commercial, industrial, retail, historic building, railway, bridge and major personal lines losses.
Timothy Dowden has over 15 years of experience in the construction consulting industry. He has been responsible for many consulting tasks such as project management, assessing, estimating, monitoring, and auditing of collapse, fire, wind, hail, water, and flood damage claims of diverse sizes and nature. His assignments have taken him throughout the United States and Canada. He has assisted in claims on projects ranging from the renewable energy sector (solar and wind energy) to commercial construction, the hospitality sector, multi-family residences, and high-net-worth custom residences.
Colin Young has over 20 years experience in the construction and insurance industry as a project manager, estimator, and consultant. Prior to his tenure at J.S. Held, he has been involved in estimating, project management, and on-site project monitoring on numerous loss assignments throughout Canada, the United States, Colombia, Dubai, Indonesia, South Africa, and Thailand. Colin was also involved with several high-profile aviation disasters over the years with the recovery and repatriation of personal effects. As a consultant Colin has been involved with many large-scale commercial losses in the Industrial, commercial, institutional and education sectors. With a strong background in large scale commercial mitigation, he has used this knowledge to assist in the mitigation of costs associated with the recovery work.
Brian Fitzgerald is a Senior Vice President in J.S. Held’s New York office. He has over 15 years of experience in investigative and forensic accounting. Mr. Fitzgerald specializes in the financial evaluation of damage claims involving business interruption, lost profits, inventory, product liability, and builder's risk. He has also provided analysis of business valuation, personal injury, death, and employment discharge cases.
Jennifer Engle, CPA, CFE, has been involved in preparing expert analyses, reports, and testimony on various forensic and investigative accounting matters. Her experience includes investigating and quantifying losses arising from alter ego allegations, business partnership disputes, sexual discrimination accusations, wrongful death, personal injury, patent infringement, and defamation claims, among others. Jennifer regularly provides expert witness testimony for her clients and has been admitted as an expert in both state and federal court.
Declan Tonge is a Managing Director at J.S. Held’s Madrid office, supporting projects across Europe and the UK. With over 30 years of experience in project and construction management, contract administration, claims, and dispute resolution, he has advised employers, main contractors, and subcontractors across diverse construction sectors.
Daniel Thorpe is an Executive Vice President in our Forensic Accounting - Insurance Services Practice, based in Dubai, UAE. He has over 19 years of experience, having specialised in Forensic Accounting since 2006. Before joining J.S. Held, he opened and led the regional office of another forensic accounting firm in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and has been based in Dubai for over 12 years. He has quantified some of the largest business interruption (BI), delay in start-up (DSU), and advanced loss of profit claims across the Middle East and Africa. Prior to that, he was based in London and Asia with extensive involvement in catastrophe losses in Japan following the Tohoku earthquake and extensive flooding in Thailand in 2011.
Hamish Davidson, CTP, FCBI, is a Managing Director in J.S. Held’s Strategic Advisory Group with over 30 years of experience in commercial and financial management. He has worked in commercial banking, corporate treasury, and asset management in the aviation, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors and has served as an advisor to law firms, lessors, debt and equity investors, insurance companies, privately held businesses, and commercial banks. He has also served as interim CEO, CFO, and COO for businesses in the United States and overseas.
Patrick Edmond is a Director in J.S. Held’s Global Investigations practice. He joined J.S. Held in May of 2023 as part of J.S. Held’s acquisition of Africa Matters Limited (AML). Patrick primarily focuses on advising clients in the energy, mining, and financial sectors about investments in West Africa and Francophone Central Africa. Patrick has a robust understanding of political and economic developments across the region, with particular exposure to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Nigeria.
