Oliver is a Quantity Surveyor and claims specialist with over nine years’ experience in the construction and engineering industries, providing contractual claims preparation and defense, cost control, planning and project management services to clients in the UK, UAE, KSA, Algeria, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq and Africa.
Oliver was fortunate to be able to study and obtain a BSc with honours in Quantity Surveying Consultancy at Kingston University London while working for a contractor in England. During this time, he worked on a number of high-profile petrochemicals, civil, pharmaceutical, water treatment and power projects.
Following the transition to contractual claims and dispute resolution, Oliver has been responsible for the detailed research, preparation and presentation of claims for additional time and money, combined with significant involvement in the defense, rebuttal and resolution of claim submissions and disputes.
Since moving to the Middle East over five years’ ago, Oliver has been engaged on numerous projects, including oil refinery and gas installations, power stations (geothermal, coal, gas-fired and combined-cycle gas turbine), high-rise buildings, airports, hotels, roads (including major highways), offshore / onshore pipelines and water conveyance.
From his experience both in the UK and UAE, Oliver is familiar with most current standard forms of contract, in particular FIDIC, NEC, JCT and IChemE, in addition to bespoke EPC forms. He is adept with planning software including and also has in depth knowledge of working with cost reporting systems.
