J.S. Held Acquires Clark Seif Clark, Strengthening West Coast Capabilities for Environmental Claims, Disputes, and Catastrophe Response
Read MoreHurricane Ida impacted a teaching seminary in New Orleans. Our team performed an initial site walk with the seminary representatives, executive general adjuster, and the mitigation contractor to determine the scope and extent of the damage. The seminary consisted of 70+ structures, including a large chapel, a library with multiple rare book sections, a student center with rare religious artifacts, educational classrooms and offices, and houses and apartments for students and families spanning approximately ¾ of a mile. Many of the structures were impacted by Hurricane Ida, and our scope was to assess all impacted properties, prepare a restoration scope of work, and perform oversight and clearances of water mitigation and remediation.
J.S. Held’s environmental, health, and safety team assessed the property beginning with the historic chapel, library with rare book collections, student center, and President’s house and offices. We then assessed the educational buildings, residences, and apartments as damages were reported. Site assessments occurred with a joint group of building consultants and engineers from other companies, working as a cohesive team to complete the assessments in a timely manner. We prepared a detailed water restoration and mold remediation scope for each property with a rapid next-day turnaround. Our environmental, health, and safety team members worked with the mitigation and restoration contractor to perform post-restoration verification (PRV) assessments as work was completed, provided recommendations for any additional work, updated protocols, and performed final clearances.
