J.S. Held Acquires Shechter & Everett to Expand Forensic Accounting Capabilities for Family Law Disputes in Florida
Read MoreThis project involved New England’s largest fossil-fueled generating facility. J.S. Held was engaged by the legal counsel for the project piping subcontractor as the project was nearing completion. The subcontractor’s scope of work consisted of installing all CS, SS, and FRP piping, as well as instruments for the dry scrubber (mercury and SO2) absorption systems. The general contractor terminated the subcontractor after the general contractor had declared to the owner that the subcontractor was complete on the project. In addition, the general contractor and owner had ordered that the subcontractor work thousands of hours of overtime and perform hundreds of changes to its scope of work. Ultimately, the general contractor refused to pay the subcontractor.
J.S. Held was engaged to analyze the reasons for the subcontractor’s 50K-hour overrun, as well as to assess why the project was completed over 6 months late. In addition, J.S. Held provided calculations of the loss of productivity, as well as a “fair value” calculation, which represented a calculation of what the subcontractor’s bid (and contract) amount would likely have been had the conditions and issues been properly and timely disclosed to the subcontractor.
