This project involved a high value prestige resort and winery that had suffered a large water loss. Reconstruction was at an impasse due to ongoing disagreements between the on-site engineer and contractor. No money was being released by the insured, and the contractor was threatening to walk off the project and lien the property, while the insured needed the project to proceed as soon as possible.
J.S. Held was engaged to assess the damage and consult with both contractors and site engineers on issues of concern. Some mediation was conducted, and a revised scope of repairs was completed, work done to date was evaluated, and payment recommendations were made to get the contractor funds for work completed. A scheduled plan of repairs and dates was charted which were agreed upon by both parties and allowed for resolution of the claim. The resort was satisfied when the project bottleneck was resolved, and the project was completed in as timely a manner as possible. The adjuster on the file was impressed with J.S. Held’s work and vowed to engage our team again for work on his files.
