Reza Nikain has over 35 years of experience in dispute resolution, management consulting, and risk management across an extensive range of domestic and international engineering and construction projects.
Reza has analyzed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up performance, including assessments involving schedule delay, inefficiency, workmanship, change orders, and damage quantification. He has also conducted management standard of care assessments relating to project controls, engineering processes, and prudency of management's actions.
Reza's significant management consulting and risk management experience includes assessments involving project and overall risk profiling, industry benchmarking and best practices, risk management training, risk auditing, and claims prevention and management. He has led engagement teams in detailed analyses of procurement strategy, contracting approaches, cost risk assessments, and schedule risk identifications. He has also assisted in the development of risk mitigation plans.
Reza's global project experience spans various sectors, including oil/gas (refineries, pipelines, storage facilities, offshore facilities, and LNG complexes) and energy/power (fossil fuel, renewables, nuclear, biomass, and power transmission).
Reza also has extensive expertise in industrial and chemical process plants, including ammonia plants, water and water treatment plants, mining and metals projects, manufacturing, hospitality, commercial buildings, high—and low-rise buildings, and transit and transportation projects.
Reza provides litigation support and expert testimony in courts, international arbitral forums, and special administrative panel proceedings in various geographies, including North and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and APAC.
Reza is a former adjunct professor in the Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Department at Columbia University.
Reza was a contributor to J.S. Held's 2024 Global Risk Report.
