Kari Williamson and her team of highly credentialed and experienced medical claims management experts joined J.S. Held in 2021. Prior to joining J.S. Held, Kari managed a leading legal nurse consulting company, helping attorneys and claims adjusters throughout the U.S. with complex, high-exposure litigation, claims, and other difficult claims issues. Kari and her team strive to be a preeminent resource in the legal, medical, and insurance space; providing a deep, experienced team of nurses, physicians, and consultants across the country. Her expertise includes medical review and analysis, bill audits/reviews, life care plans, and individual strategies to improve file and claim outcomes.
Before founding a legal nurse consulting company, Kari worked for several years as a staff nurse at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, TN, specializing in trauma, orthopedics, post-surgical and burn nursing. Her clinical experience also includes staff positions at a level-one trauma center, city hospitals, and community-based facilities.
In addition, Kari has worked as a certified insurance rehabilitation/cost containment specialist for an insurance company and independently as a catastrophic case manager, pre-certification nurse, and legal nurse consultant-certified.
Kari is frequently invited to speak and publish as a leader in the legal nurse consultant field on emerging medical-legal and insurance claims issues, such as data mining, bill audits, medical reviews, internal or external medical assistance, claims education, and new ways to measure and improve outcomes.
She writes for a variety of national and regional insurance and legal publications and often speaks to law firms, insurance groups, and other industry organizations.
Kari is active in several organizations, including the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC). Most recently, she wrote the chapter on The Role of Legal Nurse Consultants in the Insurance Industry for the AALNC Principles and Practices, 4th Edition, the authoritative reference for the industry.
