John C. Carlton, PE, RSP1, has over 15 years of experience in crash investigation and reconstruction involving passenger and commercial vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and electric scooters.

A licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Texas, and Vermont, John is an Accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist (ACTAR) and completed Traffic Crash Reconstruction I and II at Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety. He is also certified in advanced Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) and has extensive experience developing temporary traffic control plans for municipal and FDOT projects.

John’s background includes roadway design, construction, and water/wastewater planning, which he applies to forensic roadway analyses. John has testified numerous times and has been qualified as an expert in accident reconstruction, specifically in the areas of contractor standards of care, asset maintenance responsibilities, and design engineering errors and omissions. His expertise spans accident reconstruction, roadway standards, traffic signal operations, and large-loss events.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering with a concentration in Transportation Engineering from the University of Florida.
