Dan Arenson joined J.S. Held in May of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of GPW. Dan manages a broad range of projects providing geopolitical and operational guidance to companies across a diverse set of geographies. He specializes in advising multinational development banks on integrity and reputational risks ahead of a potential investment. With eight years of experience in political risk, Dan has previously worked as a senior editor at a Middle East-focused geopolitical risk reporting consultancy, as well as an intelligence analyst at Vodafone. Prior to joining the sector, Dan worked as a political aide to a Member of Parliament.
Dan's recent work includes managing a number of mandates for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in a range of emerging markets across Eurasia, the Middle East, and North Africa, pre-IPO review for a mining company of several operating regions in sub-Saharan Africa, identifying the political, economic, security, and regulatory threats to the respective assets, and identifying an appropriate, influential member of the ruling elite who could act as a ‘champion’ for a leading social media company’s agenda in-country.
Dan is fluent in English, Russian, and French languages. He also holds a BA in Russian & French from the University of Oxford.
