J.S. Held conducted Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDA) for crude oil impacts from the British Petroleum (BP) Deepwater Horizon well over a 5-year period using Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Team (SCAT) technology. The team collected soil samples and documented and quantified direct observable impacts to vegetation and wildlife. Stone Island was formerly a production pit that was completely remediated in 2008. NRDA monitoring was necessary to maintain permit compliance.
