J.S. Held’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) practice was hired by a large public school district to oversee numerous improvements in building environments across the district to improve air quality for students. The work included overseeing construction and building repairs, cleaning, and maintenance across multiple structures owned by the district.
The J.S. Held EHS team worked throughout the year with the school district to address water intrusion, mold, hazardous substances, and other potential environmental concerns in district buildings. After extensive planning is complete, J.S. Held experts will work with district personnel to execute repairs over the summer while the buildings are not occupied by students. With assistance from J.S. Held, the school district was able to qualify for over $16M in federal and state grants for improving air quality and reducing lead in drinking water at 17 schools.
