Committed to efficient, community-centered policing, the City of Lafayette Police Department needed a new facility that supported transparency and accessibility, applied “smart” technology, and positioned the department for the future. A parking lot near City Hall provided the ideal site for redevelopment into a police station and parking garage for city employees and the public. The redevelopment commission needed an owner’s representative to help them achieve the project vision.
Applying knowledge in programming, design, and construction of public projects, J.S. Held worked with the City of Lafayette to facilitate the architecture and engineering team process, including the construction manager's role as the constructor. Coordinating closely with American Structurepoint, Kettelhut Construction, F.A. Wilhelm Construction, the steering committee, and the project’s many stakeholders, J.S. Held navigated site complexities, aided decision-making, and advanced the schedule. By analyzing cost estimates and closely monitoring the budget, our team helped the City be effective stewards of the community’s investment.
