An insured oilfield services company provided well drilling equipment and rig operations services to oil and gas operators in the state of Texas. Equipment failure at one of the drill sites resulted in the loss of the oil well at the location.

The Equipment Consulting practice’s Failure Analysis & Prevention team explored the cause of the equipment failure, while the Environment, Health & Safety practice’s Energy & Environmental Advisory team reviewed the operations of the rig and associated costs resulting from the well failure.
The Failure Analysis & Prevention experts determined that the casing failure was caused by the services company’s equipment. Experts from Environmental, Health & Safety evaluated the “additional work” required to address the casing failure and determined what charges were appropriate on behalf of the insurance company.
