Vandalism activities and the theft of the copper pipes resulted in thermal systems insulation (TSI) contaminating the building with asbestos fibers. The building was not climate controlled for years and the drop ceiling tiles, which also contained asbestos, collapsed with debris throughout the floors of the building. A forensic assessment occurred with the collection of samples to fingerprint the asbestos type and makeup. We were able to determine through scientific testing that the asbestos fibers that impacted the building were not related to the vandalism claim.
