J.S. Held Acquires Technorm, Québec’s Leading Forensic, Building Safety & Compliance Experts
Read MoreA traffic camera captured an intersection collision between a left-turning vehicle and a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained significant head injuries. J.S. Held personnel reconstructed the motion of the vehicles during the accident sequence and the kinematics of the motorcyclist. The analysis of the kinematics was used by helmet experts and biomechanical experts to assess the mechanism of injury.
Our team performed a site inspection, took high-definition 3D scans of the intersection, and performed a frame-by-frame analysis of traffic camera footage using camera matching photogrammetry. In addition to evaluating the site evidence, we analyzed the EDR data from the passenger vehicle. We also analyzed the motion of the motorcyclist as he collided with the vehicle and the ground. This analysis helped the defense team to assess the mechanism of injury and reach an early settlement, avoiding trial.

> Accident Reconstruction
J.S. Held’s accident reconstruction experts deliver specialized expertise in forensic investigations, evidence collection and preservation, and scientific diagrams and animations. Our team of consultants, engineers, and PhD scientists is retained by first-party and third-party clients to provide expert witness and litigation support, from discovery to decision.
> Visualization & Reconstruction Services
J.S. Held’s forensic visualization experts specialize in the production of animations, graphics, interactive media, and virtual reality environments that communicate complex concepts in a simple form. Our visualization experts employ photogrammetry, nighttime visibility studies, video reenactments, photo analysis, video analysis, computer modeling, and simulation to analyze core issues of a case. These findings and results are represented though graphics, animations, physical models, interactive exhibits, and 3D visualizations to clearly and concisely explain our conclusions.
> Biomechanical Engineering
Our biomechanical engineers evaluate injury biomechanics based upon environmental conditions and incident dynamics. We deliver specialized expertise in injury causation investigations for accidents related to transportation, falls, machinery, and heavy equipment. We are able to determine the effects of impact and torque on the human body by leveraging our forensic engineering experience and knowledge of how forces impact bones, ligaments, tendons, organs, blood vessels, and nerves under various mechanical loads.
