A netting manufacturer operating in the eastern United States suffered a fire in its manufacturing operations that resulted in significant damage to the company’s building and equipment, including the pollution control equipment associated with its operations.
Experts from J.S. Held’s Environmental, Health & Safety practice, as well as the company’s Equipment Consulting practice, were retained to consult.
The Equipment Consulting team provided advice on the cost of the equipment loss, and the Environmental, Health & Safety team provided advice regarding the timeline and requirements to replace and/or repair the damaged pollution control equipment to allow the company to resume operations.
As the engagement progressed, Environmental, Health & Safety experts assisted the Equipment Consulting team by evaluating the relevant air permit requirements for the facility. As the Equipment Consulting team was making determinations about the cost of repairs, it became apparent the owner wanted to do more than replace like with like as it concerned much of the equipment. As a result, the Environmental, Health & Safety team was again consulted to make a determination as to whether the upgrades would require additional time due to air permit challenges and what would be required to resume operations successfully.
