A Fortune 500 medical device company was in the process of changing its innovation culture and hired new intellectual property (IP) management to restructure the IP development, management, and monetization function within the company. Our team was engaged to help redesign the company’s overall IP strategy.

How We Advised

Our team of experts provided strategic consulting focused on assessing the company’s IP management services; IP holdings inventory; products and patents alignment; and competitors across multiple product segments including periodic updates of their activities.

Our experts delivered a final report that included recommendations for increased internal patenting efforts through engineer training, jump-start disclosure sessions, and developing an innovation reward program emphasizing patenting in key long-term business lines. Our team also identified mismatches in the client’s patent portfolio where certain patents did not align with the company’s business objectives. As a result, we recommended selling assets not essential to furthering strategic business goals.
