Mississippi River Flood Impacts Barge Manufacturing Facility
J.S. Held provided oversight during restoration efforts of a barge manufacturing facility following impacts from flooding of the Mississippi River. J.S. Held developed a HASP for the site to utilize during all restoration efforts and provided daily oversight and project management. This includes identifying potential hazards, reviewing asbestos inspection and demolition reports, identifying waste streams for disposal of hazardous materials, building materials, and chemicals, monitoring for compliance with applicable worker health and exposures, monitoring the site for potential releases and directing any remediation efforts, and confirmatory sampling to evaluate restoration and/or remediation efforts.
Following the completion of all restoration activities, J.S. Held was retained directly by the owner to continue to consult on health and safety issues in order to improve the health and safety culture at the site.
The facility was flooded again in 2016 and J.S. Held was again retained based on the past performance.
