All machinery and production equipment were submerged with mud and/or water. Most of the equipment was custom made and over 15 years old. Replacement of all machinery would not only be extremely expensive but would impede the restart of production operations for 18 months to two years.
J.S. Held worked with the company’s technical representatives, manufacturers, a machinery restoration company, and an electronics restoration company to assess the equipment, determine the appropriate corrective action (i.e., clean and repair, replace, or both), and oversee the recovery solution. In addition, J.S. Held assisted with identifying solutions to restore production capabilities as quickly as possible so the company could support customer demands and mitigate the business interruption implications. This included expediting the receipt of replacement parts, expediting repairs, initiating temporary solutions, transferring technology to other systems, expediting replacement equipment (where applicable), and other measures. Our efforts along with those of other team members greatly reduced the overall property damage exposure and restored production capabilities far sooner than the company had previously estimated.
