J.S. Held Acquires Shechter & Everett to Expand Forensic Accounting Capabilities for Family Law Disputes in Florida

Held following a desert monsoon that caused both wave and wind damage to the facility. The damage impacted commercial, retail, and dining structures, wave attenuators, floating docks made of both wood and steel, overhead canopy structures, and associated utilities.
Experts from J.S. Held’s Building Consulting practice conducted a damage assessment at the facility and developed a rough order of magnitude (ROM) for the damages, assembled a repair cost estimate and cost segregation of repairs and code upgrades, analyzed like kind and quality (LKQ) for replacement components, analyzed repair methodology for efficiency, and performed a reinstatement schedule analysis for business interruption. A comprehensive analysis was also required for an insured to value determination.
The unique challenges at this facility included multiple wave attenuating systems, varying structural components at the docks and canopies, differing finish surface components, utility reconstruction aspects above and below water, and the logistical challenges of maintaining access to the facilities during reconstruction. This series of challenges posed issues throughout the planning and reconstruction periods and required continuing evaluations and calculations to assist with ongoing progress payments.
