A $550K combine crop harvesting machine was completely consumed by fire during its maiden operating season. All combustible materials were burned, leaving only the rusting shell of the equipment.
A potential ignition source involving a main power cable was discovered, which could have been the cause, but it could have also been a result of the extensively consuming fire. Our team examined two exemplars for comparative analysis. We determined that the power cable was the ignition source of the fire due to a manufacturing defect present with the subject combined in variance with the exemplars. Our findings and opinion resulted in a successful negotiation with the equipment manufacturer for a recovery greater than 90%.
