The dishwasher was relatively new at the time of the incident, having only been in use for approximately three years, with no previous issues in operation or repair services performed. J.S. Held’s Equipment Consulting Practice was tasked with determining both the nature of the failure and the cause, which was then used to determine if an opportunity for subrogation was feasible.
J.S. Held’s Equipment Consulting Practice was tasked by our insurance client to evaluate the dishwasher to confirm the reported failure and leak and to identify the cause of the failure. J.S. Held inspected the dishwasher non-destructively and simulated normal operation to confirm the failure and identify any additional indications of failure. The cause was determined to be a rodent infiltration based on the state of the equipment upon reception for inspection, the nature and location of the leak identified, the supplementary qualifying background information provided pertaining to the incident, and the circumstances of the loss. Work commenced in prompt fashion, with clear communication regarding any additional background information, findings, the deliverables required, and details regarding the continued storage of the evidence. A written report of our findings was completed and delivered in a timely manner, and for less than the cost estimate initially proposed, to our client’s adjuster who expressed appreciation for our services provided and transparency throughout the process.
