Wei Chiet Thong is a detail-oriented forensic civil and structural engineer with various management experiences and complex technical skill sets in designing wood, steel, concrete, and masonry structures. He has more than 14 years of practical experience with projects in the energy, industrial, infrastructure and transportation, commercial, agricultural, and residential sectors. Mr. Thong is experienced in the design of new structures, as well as the repair and retrofitting of existing structures. In addition to structural engineering, Mr. Thong's experience included building envelope reviews and designs. He has also presented various written technical reports, including rebuttal reports, cause and origin reports, and research and analysis reports for lawyers. During his tenure with the Government of Alberta, Mr. Thong presented engineering analyses and reports to the Minister of Municipal Affairs to make decisions on municipal or private claims related to declared disasters.

Mr. Thong has been with J.S. Held since May 2022 and is a valued member of the Forensic Architecture and Engineering Department. Mr. Thong has extensive experience in assessing, analyzing, and reporting the root cause of structure deficiency, damage, and failure. He has experience in structural design, repair, and modification for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, including wood, steel, concrete, and masonry structures. Mr. Thong performs structural reviews, building envelope reviews, and building assessments for his clients. Mr. Thong has been involved in forensic analyses and the remediation of damaged structures on small to complex losses throughout Western Canada. He has also been a part of technical support for losses in the Maritimes, Eastern Canada, and the United States.
