Read MoreStephen Werhun has been an appraiser and building consultant for SPECS Limited since December 2017 and joined the J.S. Held team in 2019. Before getting involved in the insurance industry, Steve worked in construction for more than 15 years. During that time, he worked extensively on residential renovation projects as a commercial superintendent and project manager. Steve was originally drawn into construction when a family friend approached him to join his Home Inspection firm in Abbotsford, BC. Steve completed the required one-year home study course and passed his exams to gain CAHPI (Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors) membership. He also shadowed several certified Home Inspectors on over 100 assignments.
During Steve’s tenure as an Appraiser/Building Consultant, he has been involved in the appraisal and consulting work on multiple large loss assignments throughout British Columbia and has actively provided value to clients in producing valuations and managing files. He has obtained his CPPA designation and completed courses relating to the use of industry-used appraisal software and flood and fire restoration remediation practices.
Steve's expertise includes inspections of damaged buildings, determination of means, methods and costs of repair, estimating cost of work, monitoring job site progress, and determination of Actual Cash Value.
