Ramtin "Ram" Movassaghi is a Professional Engineer with 28 years of experience in forensic engineering investigations, machinery and equipment loss evaluation, materials and mechanical failure analysis, corrosion damage mechanism verification, condition assessment, and restoration of reinforced concrete structures and building mechanical systems across Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Ramtin's experience and technical knowledge are valuable in resolving complex litigation disputes and determining the root cause of product and component failures due to physical deterioration, corrosion, material or mechanical deficiencies, manufacturing defects, installation errors, and improper maintenance.
Ramtin is experienced with International, North American, and European Standards and Specifications such as ISO, EN, CSA, ASTM, ASM, NACE, API, ASME, AASHTO, ACI, and Ontario Building Code and Regulations. As Director of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at J.S. Held, Ram develops and completes forensic engineering projects throughout Canada. He has consulted on major and complex insurance losses and works closely with forensic investigators and the multidisciplinary engineering team to conduct property loss investigations, verify damage causes, and evaluate conditions using field and lab failure examination methods.
Ramtin has presented expert witness testimony in dispute resolution procedures, including cross-examination, mediation, and arbitration. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed technical reports for litigation purposes and interpreted contracts and project specifications to assist with litigation resolution.
Ramtin received a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, a Master of Applied Science in Materials Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Azad University of Najafabad in Isfahan, Iran.
