Peter Pender-Cudlip joined J.S. Held in May of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of GPW. Peter has over 20 years of cross-border international investigations experience having worked on projects in more than 40 countries across the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, U.S., and Russia. Prior to joining J.S. Held, Peter established GPW which rapidly became one of the leading disputes consulting and investigations firms in the sector with offices in London, Dubai, and Singapore, and which was acquired by J.S. Held in May 2022.
Prior to the successful development of GPW, Peter was a Director of Kroll Associates in London following an earlier career in investment banking, financial public relations, and law. Peter works extensively with the world’s leading corporate counsel and law firms on complex commercial and sovereign disputes. He has extensive experience across substantially all industry sectors, including civil construction and infrastructure; airports; commercial, retail, and residential developments; hotel, hospitality & leisure; oil & gas (onshore and offshore); marine; mining and IT systems projects.
Clients retain J.S. Held on a wide range of investigative matters including investigating global and local assets pre-litigation and for the arbitral award and judgment enforcement; due diligence on counterparties and local sponsors, monitoring the financial status and ability to pay of firms that are struggling; investigating events leading up to and surrounding the collapse of companies, JVs, subcontractors, etc.; mapping beneficial ownership and related parties; other evidence and intelligence gathering to support disputes, due diligence and senior decision making generally.
Peter's recent work includes global asset tracing on behalf of an investor enforcing a multi-million arbitration award against a Sovereign state, global and local asset investigations into debtors for major financial institutions and corporations, the procurement fraud investigation on behalf of a major Gulf corporation, the investigation for an international bank into a fraudulent borrower including tracing the proceeds of the fraud from India to Singapore, Mauritius, Dubai, and various offshore jurisdictions, working for insurers, re-insurers, banks, and their legal teams investigating major insurance claims in the commodities sector and advising on recovery actions, acting for liquidators and their advisers in recoveries against former company shareholders and directors, and asset due diligence and enforcement for litigation funders.
Peter has an MA (Hons) from Worcester College from Oxford University and an LLM from the College of Law in Guildford.
