Peter Pender-Cudlip joined J.S. Held in May of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of GPW. Peter has over 20 years of international investigations and business intelligence experience, having worked on projects in more than 40 countries across the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the U.S., and Russia. Prior to joining J.S. Held, Peter established GPW, which rapidly became one of the leading investigations and dispute consulting firms in the sector, with offices in London, Dubai, and Singapore.

Prior to the successful development of GPW, Peter was a Director of Kroll Associates in London, following earlier careers in investment banking, financial public relations, and law. Peter works extensively with the world’s leading corporations and law firms on complex commercial issues and disputes and has extensive experience across substantially all industry sectors.

Clients retain J.S. Held on a wide range of investigative matters, including global asset tracing, fraud and financial accounting (‘black hole’) investigations, insurance coverage disputes, litigation and arbitration support, due diligence, sanctions, compliance, and operational risk reviews. 

Peter's work includes: 

  • Global asset and fraud investigation on behalf of a Gulf state corporation that was the victim of a multi-million dollar fraudulent scheme.
  • Global asset tracing on behalf of an investor enforcing a USD 500 million arbitration award against a Sovereign state.
  • Acting for a global insurer and counsel in successfully investigating and defending substantial USD 50m+ claims arising under trade credit insurance policies purchased by the policyholder to insure their accounts receivable losses. 
  • Assisting the liquidator of a collapsed investment vehicle to trace billions of dollars of missing funds thought to have been embezzled by former management.
  • Investigating the diversion of assets from a BVI offshore holding company, including establishing jurisdiction and identifying and evidencing assets in enforcement-friendly jurisdictions and owned via offshore and trust structures. 
  • Global asset investigation on behalf of an international bank seeking to recover $80m+ against a Gulf family company and its principals.
  • Business partner due diligence on behalf of  State and corporate clients contemplating M&As and other investments. 
  • Operational risk reviews on behalf of global corporations seeking to enhance their operational and financial resilience. 

Peter has an MA (Hons) from Worcester College from Oxford University and an LLM from the College of Law in Guildford.
