Paul is a licensed professional engineer and is LEED AP Building Design and Construction credentialed.
Paul has extensive hands-on experience in equipment and system design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and troubleshooting. He has worked with processes, equipment, and systems in residential, commercial, and industrial construction and aerospace industries. Areas of experience include plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, process heating, and fire protection systems; oil and biofuel processing, backup power generation, conveying systems, open and closed loop operating systems, and automation. Equipment and systems involvement has included but is not limited to, elevators, escalators, refrigerated warehouses, glass melting and heat treating furnaces, heat exchangers, distillation columns, gas separation, metal recycling, wastewater treatment and water purification, solar, and wind turbines.
As a mechanical engineer, Paul has performed design, analysis, assessment, and troubleshooting tasks involving commercial and industrial equipment along with building systems. He has been involved with system programming, debugging, start-up, and runoff processes and has experience with robotics, vision systems, position sensing, and data tracking systems. His manufacturing background includes metal fabrication, machining, finishing, and assembly processes.
Paul has performed cause & origin analysis of equipment and system failures. He has assessed flood, wind, freeze, fire, earthquake, and explosion-related damage and conducted a post-disaster analysis of equipment and systems in determining means of restoration. Paul has been an expert in product liability, property damage, and construction defect litigation. He has worked with the international and local mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas, and fire protection building codes along with NFPA, ASTM, ASME, UL, FM, CGA, and IRI industry standards including participation in revision process meetings on the NFPA 86 Standard for Ovens and Furnaces.
