Neal Thunder Chief is the Regional Lead for J.S. Held, based in Lethbridge, Alberta. He manages the Southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba Markets and the Storm Division. He also oversees the region's business development and day-to-day operations and is recognized for his expertise in a diverse array of property claims, including commercial, institutional, agricultural, high-end residential, and multi-family condominium projects.
In addition to his daily oversight of the Southern Canadian Prairies Team, Neal is the primary expert on the delivery of storm-related consulting services, a division he helped create after his direct involvement in some of Canada’s largest catastrophes, including the 2013 Calgary and Southern Alberta Floods, 2011 Slave Lake Wildfire and numerous Hail, Flood, and Tornado events throughout Canada. As the Storm Division Manager, Neal is responsible for the continued development of services, rapid assessment of damage, and deployment of appropriately skilled personnel while maintaining expert-level reporting standards and ongoing communication with clients throughout the claims process.
Prior to joining J.S. Held, Neal spent numerous years in the construction industry, where he built his understanding of project management and estimating experience of commercial, institutional, agricultural, and residential buildings. Neal holds a Combined Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge. He holds certifications from the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC), HAAG, and the Canada Green Building Council (LEED).
Neal has presented on property loss appraisals, catastrophe events, and site inspection technology. He holds a combination Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge, with an emphasis in Strategic and Project Management, Native American Studies, and Geography.
