Mike Agah is the Director of Electrical Engineering and Fire Investigation in Canada, with over twenty-nine years of experience in the oil and gas, pipe manufacturing, and forensic engineering sectors. His career spans operational roles in active industrial plants as well as leadership positions within engineering, procurement, and construction firms. He is recognized for his practical approach to diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical failures, managing infrastructure remediation, and conducting cost assessments across a wide range of environments.
At J.S. Held, Mike leads the development and execution of forensic engineering projects, overseeing investigations related to electrical and mechanical systems, as well as fire and explosion incidents involving buildings and vehicles. He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to conduct property loss assessments, determine the cause of damage, and evaluate the condition of structural and mechanical components using both field and laboratory-based failure analysis techniques. His responsibilities include defining scopes of work for the restoration or replacement of damaged systems in industrial, commercial, and residential settings.
Mike is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario and Alberta and holds a Master Electrician certificate in Alberta. He is certified as a Fire and Explosion Investigator and Vehicle Fire Investigator by the National Association of Fire Investigators, and as a Canadian Certified Fire Investigator by the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators. His investigative work includes nearly 700 origin and cause investigations, with direct leadership in over 550 cases. His expertise extends beyond fire analysis to include mechanical failure assessments and electrical system evaluations.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Shiraz, a Master of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Amir Kabir in Tehran, and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Islamic Azad University Central Branch in Tehran.
Mike has led and supported projects across Canada, the United States, and the Middle East.
