Michael has presented on topics such as damp and condensation, service life planning, life cycle costing, and intelligent buildings.
Michael is a qualified architect with extensive experience in private and government practice. He has been working with Sense Studio since 2015 and provides expert witness advice on a number of design and workmanship defects, including fire-related cladding, render, plaster, roof leaks, condensation, and roofing and brickwork quality issues in domestic, commercial, hospitality (including Grade II listed), and health care buildings.
He has previously undertaken design and specification audits, due diligence support, functional performance and service life predictions of buildings and components, asset management and maintenance strategies, assessment of design and specification quality, and best practice advice on basement design and the procurement process.
Michael has considerable knowledge of deterioration and failure mechanisms and the probability and risks of premature failures of buildings and their components. He has undertaken certification of factory-produced modular housing, including service life estimation and failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA).
Michael received a Diploma in Architecture from the Hammersmith College of Art and Building at the University of Greenwich.
