Dr. Hussein is a qualified expert witness in Civil/Structural Engineering with a specialty in the forensic investigation of complex construction claims/litigation matters, the standard of care assessment, and root cause analysis. With over 20 years of experience in planning, designing, and directing the construction and maintenance of concrete, steel, and wood structures (high-rise commercial and residential buildings, bridges, swimming pools, parking lots), and roadway infrastructures. He also has extensive experience in managing different engineering projects and carrying out detailed budget analyses, performance, and project reviews. In addition, he has experience with forensic investigation, structural failure analysis, building rehabilitation, large-scale commercial losses, industrial losses, building systems, and stress analysis using Finite Element Modeling. Dr. Hussein has comprehensive knowledge of design standards and codes (OBC, NBC, ACI, CSA, AISC).

As a forensic expert, he regularly provides consultation to lawyers, insurance experts, contractors, manufacturers, owners, corporations, and municipalities in relation to complex civil engineering litigations and claims related to building/structural failure, property damage, design/build issues, foundation issues, material failures, subrogation matters, professional and municipal liability, and engineering error and omission.

Dr. Hussein’s forensic engineering experience includes failure analysis of various buildings and structural components and foundation systems as a result of fire, explosion, impact, natural disasters, or vibration. He represents contractors, consulting firms, builders, owners, and engineers in relation to cases involving professional negligence, code compliance, design error, and construction disputes.

Dr. Hussein has been involved in preparing investigation reports, building permit drawings emergency response plans, and temporary shoring for existing residential, industrial, and commercial buildings. He has been involved in numerous major loss assignments throughout Canada.
