Louis Daniel Magnan is a forensic accounting consultant providing investigative accounting and litigation support services for commercial damage claims. He specializes in computing economic damages related to business interruption, builders’ risk, inventory and stock losses, extra expense, and property damage losses for insurers. Louis has worked on both domestic and international engagements related to various manufacturing operations, retail, residential, hospitality and petro-chemical businesses, marine claims, renewable power generation (i.e. wind/hydro), and service and shipping industries. He has also provided various litigation support services for attorneys, law firms, and other parties related to damage claims assessments, alternative dispute resolutions and accounting-related interrogatories.
Prior to joining J.S. Held, Louis worked for seven years as a forensic accounting professional at Magnan Graizzaro & Associates CPAs, LLC (MG&A), where he recently became Partner. Louis previously spent four years as a financial reporting associate in the Global Real Assets division of J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he collected and analyzed financial data in the preparation of periodic financial statements for retail, residential, office, and industrial real estate assets. Louis spent the first two years of his career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP as an audit professional in the financial services sector, where he provided attestation services for real estate private equity firms and was part of a large audit team during the S-1 filing (IPO) for a multinational private equity firm.
Louis is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the State of New York. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Marine and Insurance Claims Association (MICA) and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA – Forensic and Valuation Services membership) and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). He participated at the power industry’s 2018 NY PowerCon conference as a speaker for the ‘Developing Talent: Planning for the Future’ panel. Louis graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
