Kevin McIver joined J.S. Held in August of 2022 following J.S. Held's acquisition of the Arcadis Contract Solutions Practice in Europe. He has experience across a wide range of sectors, providing quantum expert evidence.

Kevin is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and provides quantum expert evidence in arbitration, litigation, and adjudication proceedings on high-value, complex construction and engineering disputes. He has been appointed both as a Single Joint Expert and party-appointed Expert in matters relating to quantum on construction and civil engineering projects, including giving oral evidence in the Technology and Construction Court in London. Recently, Kevin has been appointed as a quantum expert in an ICC Arbitration related to the termination of a contractor on a renewables project in South America.

Kevin regularly provides quantum expert evidence in relation to the assessment of final account disputes, including the assessment of variations and loss and expense claims. Kevin’s role also includes assessing damages in claims for early termination, evaluating reinstatement costs, and cost planning.

Kevin’s knowledge of contractor claims is based on his work as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor and his experience as a quantum expert. During Kevin’s experience working for a main contractor, he was responsible for all commercial management duties on multi-million-pound projects.

Whilst working for a main contractor, Kevin successfully managed the full range of sub-contractor packages from pre-construction through to the agreement of the final account, managing claims where necessary.

Kevin has experience in administering JCT, NEC, and bespoke forms of contract. He possesses technical knowledge of both building and civil engineering, as well as projects spanning the commercial, industrial, residential, educational, and leisure sectors. His experience also includes work in pre-construction and estimating, furthering his ability to analyze contractors’ tender and commercial submissions.
