Keegan Monteiro joined J.S. Held in July of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of Kodsi Forensic Engineering.
Keegan Monteiro holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Materials Engineering with a specialization in mechanics of materials and failure analysis, and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering with a specialization in advanced material mechanics, material failure, and mechanical metallurgy.
Keegan has been an active member in forensic engineering and accident reconstruction since 2021 and specializes in motor vehicle accident reconstruction, which includes speed calculations, area of impact determination, driver perception-response, and behavior evaluation, vehicle crush measurements, crash data retrieval, collision dynamics, infotainment and telematics data acquisition and analysis, vehicle damage analysis, and accident site surveys.
Keegan is well-versed in vehicle mechanical assessments and failure analysis, including examining failed components, vehicle and mechanical component assessment, and analysis of fractured surfaces. Keegan also routinely conducts product liability, defect, and fire origin and cause investigations.
Keegan is involved in motor vehicle collision/fire investigations, reconstructions, simulations, and analysis. He actively assists clients with many incidents, including pedestrian, motorcycle, minor, and suspected fraudulent collisions, mechanical failures, vandalism, thefts, product liability, defect investigations, and fire origin and cause determination.
Keegan’s role involves evidence preservation, including vehicle and scene examinations, and acquisition of vehicle data, including event data recorders, infotainment, telematics, and other electronic control modules. He conducts complex analysis, including reviewing and comparing reported information with the available evidence to determine what occurred in the incident, including impact speeds, collision severity, driver action / behavior, mechanical failures, product liability, defect, and vehicle fire investigations.
