Read MoreKathryn Thompson is a Senior Health Scientist specializing in human health risk assessment, exposure assessment, and ambient air quality. With over a decade of experience, she manages projects involving exposure and human health risk assessment of chemicals in various occupational, environmental, and consumer product settings. She has experience conducting air and water quality sampling in community, occupational, and emergency response settings.
Ms. Thompson earned her Master of Public Health and Master of Science at the University of Michigan, where she researched the human and environmental health effects of air and water contaminants. During her work for her degree, she was a member of a research team investigating drinking water as a route of exposure to Helicobacter pylori, a species of bacteria known to cause gastric cancer, and joined collaborators in Lima, Peru. For her M.S. thesis, she conducted an air quality intervention study in Detroit, MI, to determine the effectiveness of using portable air filters to mitigate exposure to particulate matter 2.5.
Ms. Thompson’s technical expertise includes exposure assessments, industrial hygiene surveys, and indoor air quality assessments. Additionally, she has provided consulting services in litigation involving potential exposure to diesel engine exhaust, asbestos, silica, talc, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other chemical agents.
Ms. Thompson provides various industrial hygiene and human health risk assessment services. She specializes in technical project management at J.S. Held for industrial hygiene, toxicology, and exposure assessment projects.
