Joseph is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor experienced in the procurement and commercial management of construction projects. He is a practicing quantum expert with extensive knowledge of the analysis, preparation, defense, and negotiation of construction claims.
Prior to specializing in dispute resolution, Joseph gained experience working in commercial and contract management positions within consultancy and contractor organizations. His sector experience spans residential, retail, mixed-use, hotel, health, international aviation, land remediation, highways, bridges, oil & gas, energy from waste, and conveyance pipelines.
The knowledge gained from this experience provides Joseph with a broad understanding of construction and engineering operations, enabling him to provide targeted advice tailored to his client's specific needs.
Joseph has strong interpersonal skills which are used to influence outcomes. He has achieved favorable results in the negotiation of complex commercial matters, compiled successful commercial claims, and is experienced in preparing and negotiating final accounts.
Joseph has experience in the administration and commercial management of JCT, NEC, FIDIC, IChemE, and bespoke forms of contract. This hands-on experience is supplemented by secondary legal qualifications which further enable him to appreciate the legal challenges faced by his clients.
Joseph is frequently involved in the provision of expert evidence and provides his clients with independent and impartial advice regarding the commercial management of construction and engineering operations.
Joseph is a Director and part of J.S. Held’s Construction Advisory team in the UK. Joseph primarily acts as a quantum expert but also has extensive commercial experience to assist clients in the preparation and defense of contract claims.
