John "Dan’l" Moulton has extensive experience in the structural engineering field. His career has balanced designing and inspecting new structures and assessing existing ones. His experience includes designing and evaluating numerous single and multi-story buildings, marine structures, and pedestrian and vehicular bridges. He has managed, coordinated, developed, and analyzed projects with structures consisting of structural and light gage steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, wood, masonry, and precast structures, including tilt-wall construction. 

Since 2003, Dan’l has been the Principal Engineer-of-Record for numerous projects in the United States and the design engineer in the Caribbean, Central America, and Eastern Europe. He has supervised or served as project manager on several large projects, including coordinating the structural design, analysis, construction document production and review, shop drawing review, and construction inspections. Structure types have included, but are not limited to, single-family residential, multi-story, multi-family, hotels, educational and recreational facilities, commercial and big box, hospital, public/government facilities, and vehicular and pedestrian bridges. In addition to his design work, Dan’l has provided peer review services to local design firms.

Dan also has forensic geotechnical and structural experience, including assessing and remedying structures with settlement-related damage. These projects include numerous sinkhole investigations and structural assessments, cause-and-origin investigations, wind damage, hail damage, fire damage, construction/design failure, and water intrusion assessments.

Dan’l has experience in estimating, project management, and onsite project monitoring. He has extensive involvement in major loss assignments throughout the US and Mexico. He has consulted on large complex insurance losses, including industrial fires/explosions, wind and storm losses for residential (single- and multi-family) and commercial properties, marine structures, and design/construction defects for vehicular bridges and parking structures.
