Joe Jegat joined J.S. Held in May of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of GPW.
Joe specializes in investigative research, asset tracing, and evidence-gathering assignments with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Joe has worked on numerous investigations focused on sovereign debt recovery, with his findings having been used to support the seizure of state-owned assets such as commercial aircraft. He has particular experience in satellite imagery analysis for the purpose of identifying, monitoring, and tracking high-value movable assets such as oil tankers.
His recent work includes investigating and gathering evidence on the involvement of potentially liable parties in a major European corporate fraud scandal, tracing the African and European assets of an Asian mining conglomerate in support of arbitration proceedings, identifying and tracking the historic movements of a rogue vessel through the use of satellite imagery analysis, locating a convicted property development fraudster in support of a European-issued arrest warrant, and investigating the acquisition and operations of a mining concession in West Africa as part of pre-transactional due diligence.
He has extensive experience working on projects in East and West Africa, including fieldwork in Nigeria and Senegal as well as time spent on the ground in Tanzania and Kenya. Prior to joining J.S. Held, Joe worked as a consultant at an intelligence and security firm where he specialized in providing risk management solutions to clients operating in sub-Saharan Africa.
Joe has a BA in International Relations from the University of Leeds and specialized open-source intelligence (OSINT) training.
