James "Jim" Fleet joined J.S. Held in October of 2023 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of Phoenix Management Services.

Jim Fleet has more than 30 years of experience in executive management and advisory covering the US, Mexico, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. He led the Phoenix Management Services' Boston office since its inception in 2000.

Jim’s advisory experience includes more than 150 engagements in which he managed or provided material guidance in turnaround/restructuring, investment banking—both M&A and refinancing assignments—and extensive transaction advisory assignments ranging from Quality of Earnings and Enterprise to cross-border, platform, and roll-up environments for all enterprise capital providers. He is an expert in executive leadership, having served as interim CEO, CRO, and CFO and providing bankruptcy financial advisory.

His track record of success in a wide array of corporate environments, including private, public, international, and family-owned companies, demonstrates his unique ability to adapt to the distinctive elements of each assignment. His leadership style is to advocate strongly for his clients in a manner that builds consensus among all constituents, providing a credible and efficient process and producing measurable results. His middle market client focus is typically serving in leadership at the behest of investors, lenders, and other opportunistic capital providers.

Prior to joining Phoenix Management Services, Jim spent considerable time in the manufacturing, advertising, and distribution sectors, holding roles ranging from Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing to COO and President/CEO in industries including precious metal manufacturing, insurance, hospitality, and advertising services.

Jim graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a B.S. in economics and finance in 1984. Given his broad experience and communication skills, he is often asked to lead and speak on panels at industry conferences about turnaround management, restructurings (CRO), bankruptcy/insolvency proceedings, investing, and gaining insight into complex and distressed investment transactions.
