Dr. Jessica Chopyk is a toxicology, exposure science, microbiology, molecular science, and risk communication expert. With over 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications and nearly a decade of experience, she has contributed significantly to enhancing and safeguarding public and environmental health from chemical and biological hazards. She has served clients in risk assessment, product and food safety, worker and community air monitoring, and stakeholder communications.
Dr. Chopyk holds a PhD in Toxicology and Environmental Health and a Master’s in Plant and Soil Science. She has served as a technical director in emergency responses concerning hazardous substances, including oil, gas, ammonia, ethylene oxide, and mercury. Her expertise includes coordinating response efforts (e.g., air and water sampling) among state and federal agencies and ensuring effective collaboration and communication in times of crisis.
Dr. Chopyk specializes in microbiology, microbiome, bacteriophage therapy, and microbial genetics/genomics. Her research includes pathogen detection and characterization in food manufacturing, irrigatable waters, retail products, and healthcare facilities.
