Jeff Baliban’s professional practice has focused on resolving complex commercial disputes by providing independent evaluation studies of economic impact on the various parties involved for more than four and a half decades. He has devoted considerable study to how changes in internal operations, external market factors, and other anomalous events affect business profits and business value. Over the years, Mr. Baliban has directed many national and international projects in various damages and valuation matters and is often asked to render independent opinions on historical and future losses of profit, the valuation of businesses and other income-producing assets, solvency issues, intellectual property disputes, and the determination of unjust enrichment, among other accounting and economic matters. Mr. Baliban’s clients have come to include a diverse group of corporations and their counsel.

Mr. Baliban has, on numerous occasions, provided both deposition and courtroom testimony as an expert witness in business damages, business valuation, accounting, economics, and other financial matters in various federal and state jurisdictions, as well as in arbitration (including FINRA arbitration) and before other fact-finding boards.

In addition, Mr. Baliban has considerable experience as a damages expert in property and casualty insurance matters, including business interruption, contingent business interruption, valuation of lost inventory, and third-party liability claims. He has served on various arbitration panels as both a party representative and a third-party neutral. Mr. Baliban has also directed many forensic accounting fraud investigations, SEC compliance matters, Ponzi schemes, and various Department of Justice investigations.

Finally, Mr. Baliban has been an Adjunct Professor of Statistics and Research Methods at New York University’s School for Professional Studies since 2016.
