Jim started his career learning the skills of construction as a field carpenter. From there, his career progressed as a general contractor, an owner’s representative, a certified commissioning authority, and a building envelope and forensics expert. As he advanced through the construction industry, he has become skilled in understanding the various facets of the construction process. Jim has been certified as a Commissioning Authority and a Level 2 Thermographer. This experience allows Jim to use his skills through all phases of construction.

At J.S. Held, Jim’s responsibilities include providing forensic assessments of construction defects in a variety of commercial and residential structures. He provides opinions and recommendations regarding the cause of defects, as well as corrective measures necessary to prevent further damages and losses. Jim also provides owner’s representation when clients are looking for assistance in managing their construction projects. Responsibilities include risk management, cost control and management, constructability reviews, quality control, and forensic assessments.
