Based in New York, James H. "Jim" Aronoff, JD, brings over 40 years of experience as an attorney, consultant, and investment banker specializing in financial institutions, structured finance, and private credit. He provides advisory, restructuring, litigation support, and expert witness services to law firms, financial institutions, and transaction stakeholders.

Jim’s expertise spans the full lifecycle of complex financial transactions and disputes. He advises on secured lending, private credit facilities, securitizations (including CMBS, RMBS, ABS), and other structured products such as CDOs and CLOs—often in connection with bankruptcy and restructuring. His work encompasses valuations, investigations, and due diligence for capital markets transactions, including public and private securities, as well as a wide range of commercial, residential, and consumer assets.

Jim supports clients and counsel in understanding and resolving issues in complex commercial litigation, regulatory inquiries, and arbitration, providing technical insight and strategic guidance. Jim has managed all stages of litigation support, including data aggregation and analysis, forensic reviews, damages assessment, and expert testimony.

Jim received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale and a Juris Doctor, with a Specialization in International Law, from Cornell Law School.

His additional areas of expertise include:

  • Structured Finance Management: Overseeing distressed, sub-performing, and nonperforming assets and securities for private credit and structured finance arrangements.
