Jacob Munson-Decker is a Senior Health Scientist at J.S. Held who brings nearly a decade of experience in industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, toxicology, risk assessment, sampling and analysis, risk communication, and emergency response to chemical releases.

Mr. Munson-Decker has experience with industrial hygiene surveys, engineering control assessments, simulation studies, exposure monitoring, and emergency response to hazardous materials incidents. He has served as a lead environmental scientist overseeing the assessment of chemical exposures in diverse emergencies, including railroad derailments, railcar fires, tanker leaks, oil spills, natural gas well leaks, pipeline leaks, storage facility fires, chemical plant explosions, and petrochemical fires. His expertise continues with coordinating and implementing workplace and community chemical exposure monitoring, facilitating risk communication among private and public stakeholders, and effectively managing resources.

Additionally, Mr. Munson-Decker has provided crucial project management and support for experts involved in toxic tort and dram shop litigation cases, conducting exposure and risk assessments across diverse occupational and environmental settings. His expertise encompasses investigating the health effects of exposure to various compounds, including hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, sulfuric acid, formaldehyde, metals, welding fumes, silica, particulates, refractory materials, talc, and asbestos. He actively contributes to projects addressing liability concerns associated with accidents related to drug and alcohol impairment. His expertise includes employing mathematical modeling to determine retrospective blood alcohol concentrations in forensic cases and conducting thorough assessments of intoxication caused by tetrahydrocannabinol and its metabolites.

Mr. Munson-Decker holds a Master of Science in Environmental Health Sciences from San Diego State University. During his graduate and postgraduate research at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, Mr. Munson-Decker contributed significantly to multiple studies and technical reports on aquatic toxicology.
