Iain Potter is a Chartered Accountant, qualified in both the UK (ICAEW) and Singapore (ISCA), specializing in complex loss of profit and valuation engagements and he has been based in Singapore since 2014.
During his time in Europe and Asia, Iain has worked on cases involving a wide range of industries across six continents. Much of Iain’s experience is as a party appointed damages expert in international commercial arbitration matters and he has been personally appointed as an expert in ICC, LCIA, PCA and SIAC proceedings.
Iain is most frequently retained as an independent expert on damages, valuation, and accounting issues, including loss of profit engagements and disputed business valuations, among others. He also delivers expertise in determination engagements and appointments as a mediator for loss quantum, accounting, and other financial disputes.
Outside of his expert appointments, Iain is pursuing a number of lines of research, currently including a PhD focusing on the extent to which awards of damages reflect risk and uncertainty.
