Erich Higbee’s experience spans more than 30 years in commercial, residential, industrial, and underground utility construction and consulting. He has held project superintendent, project manager, and estimator roles for large-scale contractors and restoration firms. In addition, for eight years Erich worked in the Surety Consulting Field as a Project Manager and Owner’s Representative. His responsibilities included cost estimation, project design development, risk management, project scheduling, and plan review.
Erich has also worked in the catastrophe mitigation industry. He has performed large-scale program management services for evaluating damage losses in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, Isaac, Harvey, Michael, Laura, and Ida. He provided project management, site supervision, estimating, and contract administration for a variety of clients including healthcare and school board facilities.
With J.S. Held, Erich has been actively involved in scoping and documenting loss-related damages and preparing cost estimates for losses ranging from residential water losses to large-scale multi-million-dollar losses. His knowledge and experience have also proven to be useful tools in preparing expert reports used in quickly settling claims.
Erich has experience with project relets, takeover management/oversight, cost-to-complete estimates, schedule impact analysis as well as construction defect claim analysis providing litigation support for legal counsel.
Erich provided technical expertise to Sureties in analyzing payment and performance bond claims, responding to defaults, mitigating losses, preparation of relet packages, ratification agreements with subcontractors, management of takeover projects, and litigation support.
