Erica Plaisance Desmortreux is an environmental and safety specialist with project experience in the assessment of indoor and outdoor air quality, water quality, soil contamination, fire damage, water and mold damage, asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, Chinese drywall, and other contaminants. Erica’s involvement in these projects includes initial and follow-up field assessments; sample collection and interpretation of analytical data; research; development of audits, reports, scopes of work, restoration/remediation protocols, and operations and maintenance plans; project monitoring and document review; and project management. Erica has been involved in multiple catastrophe and emergency response projects related to the Cumberland River Flood (2010), Napa Earthquake (2014), Baton Rouge Flood (2016), Hurricane Matthew (2016), Denver Hailstorm (2017), the Marco Polo Condominium Fire (2017) in Honolulu, Hawaii, Hurricane Harvey (2017), Hurricane Michael (2018), Hurricane Dorian (2019), Hurricanes Laura, Sally, Beta, Delta, and Zeta (2020), Winter Storms Uri and Viola (2021), Hurricane Ida (2021), and Hurricane Ian (2022). 

Erica has additional experience that includes assistance with Phase I environmental assessments, historical preservation, occupational safety assessments, in-plant industrial hygiene services, litigation support through research, and research and development for indoor air cleaning technologies.

Erica is involved in project management; site assessment and evaluation; production and review of deliverables; on-site project monitoring; and PRV assessment and sampling. She has extensive involvement in numerous major loss assignments throughout the United States and The Bahamas; and has consulted on large complex insurance losses, including condominiums, hospitals, malls, and warehouses.
