Drew Willard is a specialist in forensic, structural, and civil engineering evaluations. Mr. Willard has overseen and conducted evaluations involving damage and/or performance issues in residential, multi-family, commercial, agricultural buildings, and other non-building structures such as pedestrian bridges, free-standing signs, and walls. Structural evaluations have included, but are not limited to, matters involving structural failures and/or collapse, post-fire structural evaluations, wind- and hail-related roof assessments, moisture intrusion problems, vehicle impact damage, and catastrophe assessments including earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, and winter storms.
Mr. Willard has acted as a subject matter expert for construction disputes and property damage. In this capacity, he has worked with multidisciplinary teams of architects, contractors, insurance, and legal professionals to develop effective strategies for case resolution.
Mr. Willard has performed as the engineer of responsible charge or structural design lead for hundreds of buildings across the Western United States and Canada. These projects ranged from high-dollar custom homes to complex commercial structures and unique non-building structures such as retaining walls, free-standing signs, and screen walls. During his time as a design engineer, he specialized in high seismic design with wood, concrete, masonry, and steel structures.
As a licensed professional engineer and a project manager for J.S. Held, Mr. Willard conducts many diverse forensic investigations. He has overseen intricate projects involving other engineers, E.I.T.s, and/or service lines. Additionally, on several occasions he has performed as the service line lead, representing the Forensic Architecture & Engineering practice of J.S. Held on large complex assignments.
