Don Pierro has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He started his career as a hands-on contractor and project manager and has been a professional estimator since 2004. Don consults on projects ranging from single-family homes to $100 million+ commercial construction projects. He has acted as an appraiser and an umpire and has testified as an expert witness in various venues.
Don has presented written and oral expert witness testimony in dispute resolution procedures, including mediation and arbitration proceedings. As a professional consultant, he has been involved in the deposition process (including deposition testimony). He has also been involved in more than 50 appraisals to assist in arriving at a settlement. Don has been qualified as an expert witness on three occasions: twice in the New York federal court and once in New Jersey.
Don is involved in estimating, dispute resolution, project management, and onsite project monitoring. He has extensive involvement in numerous major loss assignments throughout the United States and has consulted on large complex insurance losses, including hospitals, hotels, and multifamily habitational.
Don volunteers on his local municipality's zoning and land use boards, where he was recognized for exemplary service and received numerous certificates. He is actively involved in community development and directs land uses, community facilities, and pedestrian and vehicular circulation.
Don has a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and has completed graduate coursework in Applied Chemistry. He is familiar with quality control mechanisms such as ANSI, GLP, GMP, and ISO guidelines. This background enables Don to offer a detailed approach to quantity surveying, cost estimating, building valuation, and expert testimony. His experience as a hands-on contractor makes him uniquely skilled at scheduling and critical path analysis consulting. His construction knowledge and his ability to manage multiple projects and staffing make him a significant asset to J.S. Held’s consulting team.
