Diego Bonnett is the Regional Director of the Forensic Architecture & Engineering practice in Latin America. He brings over a decade of experience in structural and forensic engineering, specializing in high- and mid-rise buildings across Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Israel.
In his role, Diego leads regional operations, overseeing project execution, quality control, and the consistent delivery of forensic services. He also supports team development, expert witness engagements, and collaborates with global teams to optimize technical resources.
Diego’s expertise includes wind and seismic assessments, construction sequencing, and the evaluation, retrofit, and failure analysis of structures composed of concrete, masonry, wood, steel, and composite systems. He has led and supported forensic investigations, damage assessments, and analytical studies for residential, commercial, hospitality, academic, and infrastructure projects, including post‑earthquake and post‑hurricane evaluations, structural collapse analyses, and major loss investigations.
Diego is highly experienced in nonlinear structural analysis, displacement‑based evaluation, seismic retrofit strategies, and performance‑based assessment, applying international standards such as FEMA, ATC, ASCE, and AISC.
Diego holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering emphasizing in Structural Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
