Diego Bonnett Restrepo specializes in structural and forensic engineering of high-rise and mid-rise buildings. He has a deep understanding of wind and seismic loads, construction sequence, and the evaluation and retrofitting of structures made from a variety of materials such as concrete, masonry, wood, and steel. With nearly a decade of experience in the engineering field, Mr. Bonnett has conducted comprehensive damage evaluations, investigations, analyses, and site inspections, in addition to carrying out post-earthquake and post-hurricane assessments, including failure and collapse analysis engineering services for various residential, hospitality, commercial, academic, and infrastructure projects, such as the metro line overpass. Mr. Bonnett is also proficient in non-linear analysis, displacement-based evaluation, retrofit, and performance-based design for existing structures. He is familiar with international codes, such as FEMA 356, ATC 440, ASCE 7, AISC 360, AISC 341, ASCE 41-13, and ASCE 41-17.

Mr. Bonnett's background also includes providing property consultative services, performing site inspections, and investigating the cause and effect of structural, civil, infrastructure, and natural catastrophe damages and failures. His experience covers structural design, analysis, and forensic investigations of various building types, including concrete, masonry, wood, steel, aluminum, post-tensioned, and FRP structures. He has been the team leader for the Forensic Architecture & Engineering Practice in Latin America, responsible for peer-reviewing reports, exhibits, and calculations performed by the team to ensure the quality and reliability of results.

Mr. Bonnett has a wealth of experience in conducting assessments and evaluations of buildings and structures, as well as overseeing retrofits, and preparing detailed reports. He has undertaken numerous on-site project inspections related to major loss assignments throughout the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean, working with insurance companies, reinsurers, adjusters, property owners, and attorneys. As the Regional Director for the Forensic Architecture & Engineering Practice, he is responsible for peer-reviewing reports, exhibits, and calculations prepared by his team, ensuring that the results are of the highest quality and reliability.
